Youth - May 2008

Youth News

I usually look forward to May with the beautiful warmer weather, the end of the school year, upcoming vacations and long, lazy summer days. This year though, I'm seeing the down side of May. Last year, my first as St. E's Youth Coordinator, was a year where no one graduated or left our Youth Group family. This May we are celebrating with the famous "Daniels" as they graduate from Farragut High, and we are truly proud and happy for Daniel Chelette and Daniel Lewis. You will accomplish great things in college and beyond, but we will miss you mucho!! Our entire community is blessed to have you in our lives!!

We have some great events coming in May, starting with Youth Sunday on May 4 when the 10:15 service will be lead by the youth. St. E's will also be honoring our graduating seniors during this service. Also on the 4th, from 4:00-6:30, we’ll plan and prepare for Mother's Day Dinner. Yes, we are making dinner for our Mom's on May 11 and will be planning the menu, making gifts , and playing some games on the 4th. (It's time for a ping pong/ four square rematch!) at the church.

Our Mother's Day Dinner is on Sunday, May 11. Come at 4:00 to begin preparing our feast. We're making crepes and chocolate-covered strawberries among other delicacies, and dinner starts at 6:00.

On the 18th is the parents vs. kids softball game and cookout. WE WANT A REMATCH!!! We're gathering at Anchor Park once again for our annual softball game vs. the parents. The kids have looked great in spring
training. The addition of Kalliope "the slugger" and Zoe "speed racer" to our lineup has the parents more than a little nervous. We'll play ball at 4:00, and have our cookout after the routing...I mean game.

Summer!

We have plans for a beach party at the Concord Yacht Club, biking the Virginia Creeper Trail, swimming and pizza at the Oak Ridge Pool, and the confirmation class will be making a pilgrimage! We are planning a fundraising spaghetti supper for Friday, JUNE 6. Watch for more information regarding this fun event!
