March Crossties

The Vestry met on Sunday, February 17. The Junior Warden reported that John Tomlinson will be handling the heating problems in Tharp Hall for the foreseeable future.

Matthew noted that the Diocesan Convention had been very successful and that St. Elizabeth’s had been well represented.

He reported that Herb Berl was elected a General Convention Deputy. In addition, Matthew was elected to the Standing Committee and to serve as First Alternate Clergy Deputy to General Convention.

Matthew reported that the newly formed Dinner Group for Young Families is off to a good start. Another dinner has been planned for Friday, March 1.

The dates for Vacation Bible School are set for May 27 – 30. More information will be coming soon.

The Stewardship Council is considering several ways to keep the stewardship campaign momentum going. It was noted that 19 survey cards had been returned regarding direct deposit of pledges.

Vestry co-chairs for the five visioning priorities was established. Each Vestry co-chair will serve with a parishioner co-chair from outside the Vestry.

Vestry leadership was also established for the Ministry Resource Team.

Topics brought up at the Vestry Listening Session included requests for an update of the Visioning Process (Vestry co-chairs have been established), an expression of appreciation for the faster tempo of the music during services, and a request for public recognition of Ed Laurence’s leadership of the very successful 2008 stewardship campaign (unanimous Vestry resolution to publicly show our appreciation of his efforts).
