St Elizabeth's Community Garden
A Growing Ministry
St. Elizabeth's launched it's first ever community garden in Spring of 2010. Preparation began with clearing the land, the purchase of a tank for collecting rainwater from the roof of the church, manure, topsoil and other items needed to get started. We were blessed with an enthusiastic committee ready for action to create a productive and beautiful garden.
The garden provided fresh produce for a local food pantry and a battered woman's shelter, as well as for the Volunteer Ministry Center in downtown Knoxville.
The garden area shown in the foreground is located on the west side of the church near the parking lot and next to the labyrinth.
