St.
Elizabeth's Episcopal Church presents
“Being Christian in the 21st Century”
with
special guest
Marcus
Borg
Science, materialism,
globalization and religious/political polarization; these
are the marks of our modern society. Christianity like the
other great faiths of the world has a long history and
much tradition. Today in the first decade of a new
millennium we as Christians need to think hard about the
relevancy of our ancient faith. We must address questions
such as:
Are Christianity’s
beliefs plausible to the modern mind?
Does the Practice of
Christianity make us better human beings?
Does the Practice of
Christianity make the World a better place?
Do we need to update our
beliefs and/or our practices to have
a more meaningful dialogue in a pluralistic society?
Please join us at St.
Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church as we explore the topic of
“Being Christian in the 21st Century.”
Friday,
2/19/10, 6:15-8:30pm and Saturday, 2/20/10, 8:15-3:30pm

Practicing the Christian Disciplines
Dick
and Geneva Brown are leading a class on the Christian
Disciplines which will continue through February 2010.
Using Richard Foster’s book, "Celebration of Discipline"
as a resource, the class will focus on the exploration of
disciplined spiritual practices, many of which are
centuries old, as ways of nurturing our spiritual growth
and well-being. The class meets each Wednesday from 7:00
pm – 8:00 pm in the library.
